Allen Cunningham on Stealing

Allen Cunningham has a new article on the Full Tilt Poker website in regards to stealing blinds during the midpoint of tournaments. It’s pretty standard advice, but I like the way Cunningham makes specific references to hands and how he plays them in certain spots. A good overview on position stealing in tournaments for those who haven’t read a lot.
It really can be amazing how many chips you can accumulate without ever picking up a hand, and just using your position and the fact that most of the time your opponents will not have large holdings against them. The last few online tournaments I did well in I remember hardly ever having big pairs, just milking the blinds for all they are worth.
I’m always amazed in online tournaments how afraid people are of going out near the money, even in $5 tournaments where ‘the money’ is about a 50 cents to a dollar more than they bought in for. Are you really playing for 2 hours to win a dollar? It’s pretty incredible.
So while they are waiting around for those big pots, you can steal and steal and steal and make more than they do off their one large hand after they’ve been blinded for several rounds.
