Another Instance of Full Tilt Fireworks

by Blake on January 3rd, 2008

As if in direct corroboration of my last post about how no card in online poker is a blank, and every hand seems to pit several players with huge hands against one another, check out this hand that went down just minutes after I’d pressed ‘publish.’

Full Tilt Hand 1

So, here we have one player flopping a set, one player flopping the straight, and one player flopping the nut flush draw. Of course fireworks go off, and then the turn turns the worst hand into the best hand.

Notice how the river is a non-blank that would have given me the 2nd nuts had I somehow donkeyed my way along to staying in the hand.

I’m not sure if it’s surprising the set didn’t draw out, or if it’s just part of the way it works that the set should lose again.

I mean, come on, really? How often do you see this kind of action in a brick and mortar. Once every few hours? On here it’s more like every five minutes. Can they be more blatant? I don’t know.

I am keeping my hot hands in the tournament action from now on. It would take a lottery winning I-don’t-care-anymore bonanza to get me to put any more of my money into a cash game online.

I can’t tell you how many times in this tournament alone I watched the donkey hit it again and again. One guy must have been all-in 10 or 15 times with the worst of it, only to be 2nd in chips when I got busted by him.

Good lord!

I would bet my left ear lobe that one of the other players threw away a straight flush.

that’s a safe bet. the other hands probably also included the Q of spades and a 4/3 suited.

No kidding. I’ve been running so bad, just getting pummeled by runner runner flush! runner runner straight! runner runner boat! that I figured I’d just dump off the rest of my chips in a cash game and be done with it…so I push the tight player with my A/Jo knowing he’s surely got me, and he does with a K/K. of course, I hit J/x/J on the flop. Underdog wins again! the very next hand, I flop 2 pair, get the guy all in on the turn, he flips a pkt pair and nails the set on the river. I’m telling you, the online game is killing my live game…it’s just ridiculous.

YEAH! I remember one time, my buddy had AK in a $1/2 cash game…raised to $15 pre…one caller… flop was A,K,K…he checks…villain bet $40… my bud pushes for $150…villain insta-calls and flips J,J… what an idiot. Guess what the last two cards were. That’s right… J,J. Oh, wait a minute, that was in a LIVE CASINO. There’s no conspiracy guys. To coin a stupid (but correct) phrase… “That’s poker”. It happens more online because there are a lot more hands and people contest more pots.
