Another Poker Movie
On March 21st, there’s a new poker movie coming out: THE GRAND. Strange thing is: it actually sounds good. It’s an improv comedy, almost entirely unscripted, about 6 players who make their way to the final table of a $10 million first prize poker tournament.
The cast has some pretty decent folks in it: Woody Harrelson (he usually can be pretty funny, I think), David Cross (yes), Hank Azaria, Michael McKean, Cheryl Hines, and several others. Several poker pros will also be there: the Phils (Hellmuth, Laak, Gordon), Doyle, several others.
For some bizarre reason, legendary German auteur Werner Herzog is listed as appearing as THE GERMAN. I love listening to Werner talk. He has the best angry speaking voice of all time. He should be priceless.
Overall, sounds like it could be pretty promising. As long as it’s better than ESPN’s ‘Tilt’ show, I hopefully won’t resort to cutting myself during the screening.

I really enjoyed how they have Shannon Elizabeth billed as a “poker pro” and not an actress.
That is like saying Corky from the show “Life Goes On’ is an actor.

Heh.
Hey, we all know Corky is a MUSICIAN, not an actor. Have you seen his band? Wow.
