Best & Worst Female Poker Players: Another Reader’s View

Ok, so here is my top 5 list with the rest coming soon. The top five are not in any order of importance> Fingering some one as the greatest player is too daunting for me to take on.

1. JJ Liu

This lady is a dragon at the table. I have never seen such intimidating play from a woman or a man at the level she plays. She’ll reraise with 9 2 offsuite OOP to a preflop raiser simply becuase she knows that the original raiser doesn’t have aces and that they’ll fold to a reraise representing a big hand. The funny thing is off the felt she is an adorable, giggly school girl.

2. Vanessa Rouso

This girl has some serious math skills. I think she’s going to be one of the huge forces in poker in the coming years.

3. Jennifer Tilly

I know, I know you don’t agree with this one. But I think Jennifer has some legitimate poker skills on the felt. Her ditzy demeanor and dumb reputation works very well for her the same way it works very, very effectively for Phil Laak. She put in some serious dedication learning the game late in her life. I respect that.

4. Kathy Liebert

Not the biggest fan of her style of play or table demeanor but she can play. And play very well. Her main problem is that she is not very attractive and unfortunately that is the defacto qualification for tv time and endorsements. She’ll just have to make the money up at the felt which she is more than capable of doing.

5. Jennifer Leigh

One of the new school upstarts. She is aggressive and I think she’s going to do very well in the future.

Now my list of overrated donkeys. :)

This is in order of importance.

1. Jennifer Harmon

I really don’t understand why people give her so much respect. I have never, to my recollection, remember seeing her make any spectacular plays, bluffs or lay downs. She plays scared poker by the numbers. It’s boring, she’s boring. Discuss amonst yourselves.

2. Clonie Gowan

The same for Harmon applies to Gowan. Although I’ve seen her at least make a few plays that were great but they are very few and far between. She’s the Full Tilt groupie. I believe we would never even know who this chick was if it wasn’t for her friendship with some of the big pros at full tilt.

3. Annie Duke

OMFG, where do I begin. Crappy play, whiney table demeanor and huge ego. I’ve seen her call the floor over some of the dumbest issues. I hope her house forecloses and she goes bankrupt. Then we won’t have to ever see her donkey face again.
