Ok, i’m not sure if I am supposed to put the bad beat story here or in another thread. There has been a few so I’ll just post it here and hope it is part of the candidates.
Bad Beat Story….
I am playing a tourney at Full Tilt to advance to a bigger tourney for a spot on Poker After Dark. I am playing well and changing my game up where it is hard for people to put me on a hand.
I chip up for 6 hours until I make it to the final table where I am the short stack by about 30% compared to the others at the table.
I wait for my opportunities and attack feriociously when I am in a hand. Soon I am the big stack and there are three players left.
Player 2 goes all in and Player 3 calls. I would rather challenge Player 2 and not let Player 3 get more chips but I am not risking to triple up Player 2 and/or get in a bigger battle with Player 3 (not just yet).
Player 2’s pocket 6’s don’t hold up and he’s knocked out by Player 3’s flopped Ace.
Now it is heads up and I have double what he has in chips.
I know I am a better player then my opponent and keep the pots small looking to do most of my work post flop.
40 mins pass without much action. We see a flop and finally fireworks.
The flop is K 6 7 rainbow. I’m holding K 7 in the pocket and bet the size of the pot with my 2 pair.
Player 2 raises me double. I raise back triple, he pushes all in and I call.
I’m hoping he’s not on a draw and my hopes are right.
He’s got a measly Q 6 against my made 2 pair of K 7.
He made a horrible play. Even if his Q hits I still have Kings up over his Queens.
The Turn is a 3.
And the river is a unbelievable 6.
He makes a disgusting 2 outer on the river and is rewarded for his horrible play.
I remain composed though and I know getting steamed is only going to hurt me.
He has me covered now but barely.
Enough to make me think twice about going all in.
The next hand is checked/checked with a flop of:
Q 3 9 off suite
I’ve got two pair again with Q/9. I raise, he pushes all in and I call.
I’m thinking i’ve got him this time.
He shows a 8 3 off suite.
The turn comes 10
And the river is a freaking Jack.
I outplayed this guy all night and he does a double suck out 2 times in a row to win the 6 plus hour tourney.
Needless to say, I was not a jolly man after that.
