Gus Blog: Bluffing

by Blake on February 22nd, 2008

Gus Hansen’s blog is off to a pretty good start: he has a new post up now that contains a couple of scenarios where he discusses the thinking behind firing with nothing in a couple of specific hands, which is interesting to kind of get behind his mind on the subject.

Of course the premise is, as always with bluffing, is that most of the time your opponent isn’t going to make a strong hand and so continued strong betting is often going to win the pot.

In personal news, didn’t end up playing last night, and haven’t had time to sit down with the online module long enough to sit down at a table, though I can feel the itch coming back on to put that money I won from playing freerolls to work into building a new online bank roll.

I am so jacked on coffee right now. I wonder if playing while super buzzed on coffee would be a help or a deterrent.

Do you play on coffee?

This is may sound odd but I practice self-deprivation when I play serious poker. I limit myself to water only and absolutely no food.

I find that my focus is far greater this way.
