Poker Morals
There’s been an absolute ton of recent info on the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in the past few months, mainly circling around how ridiculous the bill is and how no one on earth seems to understand how the government thinks they can so blindly regulate a market as huge as poker.
The whole thing relates around the idea of whether poker is skill or game of pure luck. This guy was working on a study — Poker Luck vs Skill — but his approach doesn’t seem quite on point.
I don’t really see where the debate is. Obviously there is at least an element of skill involved as people’s results tend towards how well they play. If there were no skill there would not really be pros who win a lot of tournaments (though the Rounders argument of why do the same guys always appear at the WSOP final table no longer really applies, and it’s kind of ironic that it’s that film’s fault in part that the fields are so large now).
More bureaucratic garbage making us jump through hoops. Another reason to want to move to Europe, where poker couldn’t be burning any hotter.
All despite all this, those who want to play will play. We can get online anytime we want. There are home games all over. You’re just making it take longer in the case of internet, and loom more dangerous in the cash of live games, and really, you are doing a disservice to all taxpayers, as we could really use the break of all the extra tax $$ that would come in with just a little regulation. Poker tax!
Hmm, maybe I should be glad it’s not legalized.
Morals.
Morals.
Yeah.

It makes me laugh that all this is still going on yet the US government still allows people to gamble on the state run lotteries where there is obviously a lot of skill involved in winning! Oh but it is taxed I hear you say, what a coincidence that is!

Not to mention the stock market, driving a car, and about any other move in life.
