Ridiculous Hand
I’ve seen some pretty ridiculous hands in poker, on TV and live, but this fifteen minute back and forth between Sam Farha and Jamie Gold on High Stakes Poker might be simultaneously the most ridiculous and rather annoying bunch of table talk ever.
How Jamie Gold still has any of his $10 million, I have no idea.
I don’t mind table talk here and there but Gold is just supremely dumb.
Yeah, he saves himself a chunk of change, but in the process ends up looking like some used car salesman.
Play cards, damn it.

I emphatically disagree. Jamie Gold is a horrible player fundamentally but is a powerhouse psychologically.
If you watch the WSOP, he won by talking people out/in the hand when it was to his advantage including the heads up at the final table.
This is not done by most pros. Sammy was confused while Jamie knew Sammy’s hole cards fairly quickly.
And on another note, people may not be a fan of this type of play but if they aren’t in the hand it really is none of their business.
I would have told Doyle to shut his mouth and stop complaining during that hand. It is not his few hundred thousand at stake.

really? You’re the first person I’ve heard of that doesn’t think he sucks. I mean, yeah, he uses table talk pretty well to his advantage, but god, he sounds like such a jack off in the process.
I’m afraid I have to go with Doyle here.

I must admit it was the first time I had seen Jamie Gold in action. Someone else said he reminded him of Dustin Hoffman in Rainman (one for good, two for bad). I just thought he was a bit of a embarassing idiot.

Don’t get me wrong, I think his actual play is borderline horrible. His talk is what makes him good though.
Rewatch all the televised hands with Jamie Gold from the WSOP Main event that he won and you will see him talking people in/out of a hand 90% of the time (that is a loose estimate).
He won the final table because of his mouth and nothing more.
I have to appreciate that type of skill whether I like him or not.
