Top 10 Things I Like About the Gold Strike in Tunica MS
10. The buffet, no matter how many times I eat it and am disappointed, always seems like the best damn idea on earth.
9. Poker room rates: $30 a night on weekdays, $50 on weekends, if you play just 8 hours a day. Nice deal.
8. The locals: you’ve never seen so many elderly rednecks who will blind down $100 over the course of a few hours. They really just like to sit there. If they get drunk they’ll talk dirty to the waitresses fairly openly, and that’s weird.
7. Free Cardplayer magazines in the poker room, good to read while you’re waiting for a table.
6. I still like the fat middle aged guy I sat to for 12 hours one night, whose name was Richard Rape (he went by Dick, and it really was his name, I saw his ID), who spent most of that time either telling me about his drug trafficking exploits (mostly driving a truck from here to there filled with dope) or joined in with the old men hitting on the women.
5. The Atrium Cafe. Way better food than the buffet, and they’ll give you enough in comps to get a huge steak dinner with all the sides.
4. The exercise room is sweet. Yeah, after I eat like a pig and sit on my butt for 2-3 days, I inevitably end up there to run some of it off, and they have two of the best treadmills I’ve ever seen. Plus an indoor pool, which I’ve yet to use.
3. Fratboys on import. This place is near so many colleges, they have a seemingly nonstop supply of donks coming in especially on holidays and weekends, so there’s always a good amount of money flowing from them good ol’ Mississippi and Tennesse boys.
2. The rooms are actually nice. I don’t feel dirty in the bathroom. I don’t feel my skin shrivel sleeping in the rented bed, like I do in most hotels. The air is always nice and cold.
1. They have a female Asian dealer named NANI.

Good list!
I don’t think the buffet’s that bad, but it’s nothing special either. Really all the casino buffets blend together after a while. I just try to use it to fill up on mediocre sushi and some veggies, and maybe some of the steak or grilled chicken. Haven’t tried the Atrium but that’s a good tip.
I vaguely remember Nani. I find both the Strike and the Shoe dealers to be excellent at their job (maybe because I cut my teeth at Foxwoods) but I get the impression she doesn’t stick in your mind because of her dealing.

I like the buffet, but the food is definitely better at the Atrium. Plus you can’t gorge yourself there. The buffet seems to often be completely hit or miss. Some days it is dead on.
Nani, heh, bless her. She’s an older Korean(?) woman. She’s very nice, and actually had a bracelet in (I think) stud.
