Top Women Poker Players: A Reader’s View
From regular commenter Jason, a list of his top 5 women player, as synthesized in many commenters’ mutual disgust for Annie Duke:
I think coming up with a Top 10 isn’t easy, but I’ll give it a whirl….
“1) Jen Harman. She is the only woman to sit in the Big Game at the Bellagio on a regular basis. She’s one of a handful of gals who refuse to enter women’s only tournaments and her record speaks for itself. She is one of the best in the world outright, regardless of gender.

2) Kathy Liebert. Got her poker education the hard way…long hours on the felt in the Colorado casinos. Her tournament record is very impressive and quite frankly she is one of the most underrated players of this era, period.
3) Barbara Enright. In the world of hottest-looking-woman-gets-the
4) Annette Obrestad. This one’s a tough pick, and her base fundamentals for poker are tough to gauge. Still, the results from her over the top aggressive style make it tough to argue with putting Annette15 on any list.
5) Vicky Coren. I probably have her a couple of spots higher than I should, because even admittedly as a married man this gal does really catch my eye. But Coren does have some credentials to back that pretty smile and charm. Namely becoming the first (and so far only) woman to win an EPT title. She regularly sits as the only woman on many of the European poker shows with the likes of Devilfish Ulliott, Tony G, Juha Helppi, and her pals the Hendon Mob. And Coren actually ENJOYS playing poker.
6 through 10 to come later…it’s actually a steep dropoff from here.”
Anybody wanna argue with Jason?
I like Harmon okay, but I would not put her as my number 1. Though I might have trouble picking any number one at all.

You could easily reverse Harman, Liebert, and Enright depending on what your top criterion is. Harman is by far best in cash games and high stakes. Liebert has the superior record in tournaments, while Enright has a longer track record overall with more groundbreaking acheivements. I guess my main thought in this is pretty much what other pros who play day in and day out say about it and they tend to name Harman as the best woman right here, right now.

I’m working on mine. Been busy with work and commuting.
I should have at least top 5 by today.

jason,
i wonder if it’s because they are all friends with harmon and she is most well known at this point.
though she IS the only female we’ve seen on high stakes poker which says something.
i personally really like isabelle mercier. she can play. she’s never on tv much anymore though.
liebert is very nearly a man, i think. i hate her attitude. she’s almost as whiny as phil.
