Trash talking the bad player
There’s always the guy that sucks at cards at a table. If you’re lucky that is: the guy who pays off every hand no matter how obvious it his he is beat; who even though sometimes he gets lucky and sucks out is 90% of the time going to end up dumping a lot of money into your game.
As bad as he plays, it is a dumb move to trash talk these people. As much as it might hurt to see your KK get sucked out by Q3 offsuit, in the long run YOU WANT THIS KIND OF ACTION. At a table full of people who aren’t gambling, it’s a lot harder to make money, right? So why chase them off?
At my home game recently, there’s been one particular donk who people at the table just can’t stop laying into. He’s a nice guy, if really loose, and yet they berate him, call him names, and on and on. This guy is giving you his money. You should be kissing his ass. You should be offering him drinks and making him feel welcome so he’ll come back and keep donking it off. It really bothers me to see people going on and on when seeing someone’s bad plays: keep you mouth shut and roll with it. Eventually, even if you take a bad beat or two in the process, you will take his money.
Don’t startle the donkey. Give him a bag of Cheetos.

It’s all very schoolboy isn’t it? People get that sense of superiority and the schoolyard bully comes out in them.
When I first started playing people would say ‘nice hand’ when I’d beaten them making a silly play.
I thought I was great. It took me a while to work out why they were saying it.

Dude, I wish I knew something about cards. I’m going to Vegas next month for the first time and, should I choose to play a game, I wouldn’t want to be laughed at.
It was like you read my diary and put this message out for all the “haters” I might run in to, lol :)
