“As I’m sure you know by now, USA Today broke the news this morning prior to a media conference call today about World Series of Poker. The Main Event Final table will now be delayed from July 16 until Nov. 9 and 10, and televised on November 11th.”
Seriously? So they’re playing out the main event at a normal date and then played 5-6 months later? God, I can hear the ads now. This is obviously just an attempt to milk as much cash and ad time as possible, and to turn each of the 9 lucky donks who make it all the way down into ‘media icons.’ All we need: more chodes.
Someone, please, help poker. This is getting gross.

What in the hell am I going to do with all that time, 4 months. I guess ill take a cruise.

What I want to know is what happens if something happens to one of the final 9 in the time between making the final table and actually playing it? Do they all automatically get 9th place money or does the person who finished 10th step up?
Totally ridiculous.

I didn’t comment on this one at first because I was very heated over the change.
This is purely and simply about making advertisement monies. This is not a “drastic paradigm shift” to enhance the game of poker.
And you know what is going to happen right? Once a precedence has been set then all competitors will follow the same path to be competitive.
I was really disapointed in Daniel negreanu’s blog proclaiming the joyous merits of this move.
I think Ray Winston wrote about the change fairly. I don’t normally agree with Ray but he always speaks his mind regardless of who might not like it.
I only have one thing to say about it:
“This is some bullsh*t”
